Dancing into Active Hope: Embodied Resilience
Facilitated by Margo van Greta and Sharon Took-Zozaya
Join us for this celebratory and interactive online course in which we'll experience and express the Active Hope cycle through dance, creative movement, yoga, meditation and other embodiment practices in a safe and supportive group. Active Hope draws forth our inner resources, cultivates our resilience, and creates a more loving, peaceful and sustainable world to live in.
Active Hope is a practice that cultivates our ability to respond to the challenges of our life and our world. “How to face the mess we’re in without going crazy” is the subtitle of the Active Hope book by Joanna Macy and Chris Johnstone. It takes the form of a strengthening spiral journey in four stages:

About the facilitators:
MARGO VAN GRETA is a pioneer of holistic spirituality and a facilitator of transformation, creating a safe and supportive space for deepening the inner journey. She was fortunate to study with Joanna Macy during several of her courses in the UK, and decided to bring more Active Hope programs into the world. She works with integrated spirituality and education, and is leading retreats and workshops for 25 years. She is a qualified guide of the Game of Transformation, and former staff member of the Findhorn Foundation in Scotland, One of her projects was creating the Inspired Action Conference in 2010. Margo is a practitioner of Tibetan Buddhism since 1987, and initiated a Buddhist Group. She is a qualified Discovering Buddhism teacher, and does her personal annual month-long Buddhist retreat in southern Spain. Recently most of her work is moving online. She has lived in the Findhorn Ecovillage Community since 1991 and deeply loves nature.
SHARON TOOK-ZOZAYA is inspired by our capacity to creatively engage with inner experiences and spiritual wholeness through the body. She has worked for over 40 years as a movement facilitator with dance, yoga, meditation, kinesiology and other somatic practices to support individuals and small groups to reach their goals for increased self-efficacy, emotional stability, physical ease, spiritual connection, and creativity. She has facilitated a variety of workshops and trainings in community settings and educational contexts in Scotland and the USA for participants with and without additional support needs. This also included working at the Findhorn Foundation for several years, where she initiated the three month Essence of the Arts in Community program. Her qualifications include: C-IAYT (Certified Yoga Therapist), MFA, MS, Diploma in Counseling and Therapy.
- Gratitude: The journey begins by celebrating this nourishing quality. It reminds us of all that supports us, providing resources that put us in a stronger position to face the stuff that hurts.
- Honouring our Pain for the world: In the second stage we give voice to the grief we feel for the world, respecting our feelings and motivating impulses. If we feel overwhelmed or despairing, this tells us we’ve stepped beyond what we can easily cope with alone – now we are facing something much bigger that calls for new responses and different ways of thinking.
- Seeing with New Eyes: In the third stage we explore blocking beliefs and find new perspectives that increase our sense of possibility.
- Stepping Forth: The final stage focuses on practical steps we can take. We discover learnable skills that help us harness the inspirational power of positive visions and find our personal role in working towards them.
What we offer during this programme:
- Four sessions of two hours each, facilitated by Margo and Sharon. We will be going through the spiral with introductions to each theme, experiential activities, inner work, movement, dance and bodywork, sharing in small groups in breakout rooms, time for whole group sharings, questions and dialogue.
- Weekly Zoom meeting in a buddy-group in between sessions.
- Integration activities during the week, such as keeping a journal, nature based activities and movement practices.
